Meet the Judge: I am a 4-H alumni, having grown up raising and showing goats at both the county and state level. My crowning achievement in 4-H was earning the title of Oregon State Grand Champion Dairy Goat Judge in 1999. While I do not currently raise goats, I remain active in the goat community by volunteering with 4-H and judging shows. I have judged goat shows in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, California, Nevada, and Colorado. My goal as a judge is make the experience as educational (and fun!) as I can. As such, I am always open to questions and feedback!

DOB = Date of Birth; DOLP = Date of Last Picture

Note from the judge: I will often refer to "tracks well". Obviously, I can't see how the animals walk - but you can still get a good idea from the pictures of how they would "track" or move in a straight line. For example, a goat who elbows out or is knock-kneed is going to swing their legs out more, causing their joints to deteriorate.

Class 2 - Jr. Wethers: 3 to under 6 months

Judge's comments: First place will be awardto this black and white wether. He is well balanced, strong on feet and legs.

Judge's comments: My second place wether tracks well and is well balanced.

Judge's comments: My third place wether is smooth over the shoulders and through the front end.

Judge's comments: My fourth place wether has good volume and depth of barrel.

Judge's comments: My fifth place wether tracks nicely through the front and has good depth of chest.

Judge's comments: My sixth place wether tracks wide through the rear and has nice depth of body.

Note: only 1st - 6th were ranked by the Judge. The following goats are in the order in which they were received.

Judge's comments: I would like to see more depth and length in the barrel in order to move this little cutie up in the class.

Judge's comments: I would like to see this cute wether stronger on his feet and legs in order to move up in the class.

Junior Champion & Reserve Junior Champion Wether
Champion will be selected from the 1st place winners of classes 1-3. Reserve Champion will be selected from
the remaining 1st place winners and the animal standing 2nd in the class from which the Champion was selected.

Judge's comments: My Junior Champion Wether is well balanced and strong on feet and legs. He shows a good depth of barrel and stands on strong pasterns. Judge's comments: My Reserve Junior Champion Wether tracks well and is well balanced. He stands on strong feet and legs and shows good balance in the chest and in the rear.

Points Earned = 2.0 Points Earned = 1.5
